Leah Kahn joined Assembly as the Vice President of Jewish Education after serving as the Senior Director of the Meyerhoff Center for Jewish Experience at Hillel International, where she oversaw the Jewish Learning Fellowship (JLF), the largest pluralistic adult Jewish educational program on campus.
Over the last decade, Leah has developed a unique pedagogical approach that is used to train and induct more than 350 campus rabbis and educators in the art of teaching. Leah is the visionary of the Shabbat Hosting Lab Fellowship, which reached 500 students on 48 campuses after a pilot year. Leah has an MA in Jewish Studies and Experiential Education from the Spertus Institute and a certificate in Jewish Studies from Pardes. She was awarded the 2016 Pomegranate Prize (Covenant Foundation), received the 2018 Fromer Award in Arts and Education (East Bay Federation) for her choreography, and was a senior fellow in the M2 Pedagogies Research Fellowship (2020). She is a Wexner Field Fellow in Class 8.
In addition to her work as an educator, she is a certified yoga teacher, a lover of Torah, a lifelong modern dancer, a Shabbat enthusiast and a mean vegan cook.
Leah lives in Berkeley, CA with her husband and two children.
